Academic studies
After graduating from secondary school at Staffelsee-Gymnasium Murnau Florian Ott attended the University of Augsburg from 2002 to 2008, where he studied Computer Science and since 2003 also Economics and Business Administration in a parallel double major. His academic degrees are:
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (B. Sc. in BA),
- Diplom-Informatiker (Diploma),
- Diplom-Kaufmann (German MBA equivalent),
- Master of Science in Information Science and E-Commerce (M. Sc.)
During his studies Florian Ott was employed at several academic institutions as student assistant, amongst others at
- the Centre for further education and knowledge transfer (Zentrum für Weiterbildung und Wissenstransfer),
- the Students’ union of the economics department
- College sports
Additionaly he works freelancing as accredited IT-Trainer and Consultant for Internet Services and Content Management Systems.
Research
After having submitted his diploma thesis, which he wrote in cooperation with Accenture during 2007, Florian’s research work now focuses mainly on new internet technologies and their impact on Computer Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW). Within the BMBF-Project “Gemeinschaftsgestützte Innovationsentwicklung für Softwareunternehmen (GENIE)” he is also engaged in new interaction paradigms with interactive wall-sized screens, multitouch and especially the suitability of these new technologies as ubiquitous user interfaces for IT systems.
